Empowering women through rural farming in Nepal
I am proud to say that all the reporting, writing, photography and videography in the above article is my own work.
The story reflects how a group of women from western Nepal took advantage of new economic opportunities to better their lives. This improvement was possible thanks to the Building Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Extremes and Disasters (BRACED) Project taking place in Nepal. I am very happy that I had the opportunity to help document the project’s success.

After Bangkok bombing, fears give way to strength
The above image (courtesy of the online publication) is from an article that I wrote after my former colleagues at CCTV America reached out to me asking for an article about the Erawan Shrine bombing in Bangkok on August 21, 2015. The piece is very special to me considering this was a huge shock to both Thais and expats living in Bangkok.

One of my many roles with the Asian Disaster Preparedness center included covering important meetings in Thailand and abroad. In the above article, I attended and reported on a high-level meeting that shared the results of risk assessments conducted in 16 public hospitals in Bangladesh as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen disaster preparedness in the country.

ADPC’s New Executive Director Sets Sights On Interventions That Matter
In the above article I had the opportunity to interview ADPC’s Executive Director Mr. Hans Guttman, for Asia Pacific Fire (APF) Magazine. We had a partnership with the publication and we believed readers would be interested in an inside look at ADPC’s Executive Director and how he approaches his work. This became the main theme of the article – making interventions that matter.
Case study: Child-centered disaster risk management in Sichuan, P.R. China
This case study examines a partnership between ADPC and Save the Children China where ADPC was invited to provide technical support in the development of a three-day training course on child-centered disaster risk management. The objective of the training was to equip local government officials, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), schools, and local community members with community-based disaster risk management skills. It also considered children’s specific needs in disasters and included them into the disaster management process, which was a new concept in the region.

While my recent focus has been marketing, I never wandered far from my roots as a journalist. Below you’ll find articles from my internship with the Boulder Weekly during my internship in University.
